Boston College got blown out for the third time this season
as they lost 52-7 on Saturday. Lamar Jackson had 7 total touchdowns, and the game was pretty much over
before the second quarter even started.
BC could do nothing on offense, and gave up big plays both through the
air and on the ground. The team
needed a hot start, and got the opposite.
When BC had the Ball:
The offense struggled throughout the game, and nothing was working. They were
unable to throw and run the ball against an elite defense. Jon Hilliman and Davon Jones combined
for 14 carries for 21 yards.
Patrick Towles faired better through the air, but it didn’t make a
difference as Louisville score 5 touchdowns before BC was able to gain 5 first
downs. Towles went 13 for 21, but
BC was forced into so many 3rd and longs that Towles felt more
ineffective. The BC oline
struggled, as the backs had no holes, and Louisville had 9 tackles for loss,
including 3 sacks.
When Louisville had
the Ball: Lamar Jackson
happened.
Overall: Another bad result for the Eagles. While no one expected to win, or for it
to be a tight game, BC should have come out better than being down 35-0 only
minutes into the second quarter.
This combined with the blowouts to Virginia Tech and Clemson, has shown
how far the talent has dipped for Boston College. The Eagles have not been competitive against a good team
this year. The Eagles will have to step it up on Friday Night against Florida
State.
