Thursday Night
#14 Oklahoma @ Iowa State- 7:30 ESPN
UCLA @ #15 Colorado- 9:00 FS1
Oklahoma heads to Iowa State for a Thursday Night Big 12
matchup. The Sooners have put of
plenty of points as it is
undefeated in Big 12 play, but its defense has struggled. Iowa State has been known for producing
upsets over the past decade, and will need to play by far its best game of the
season to pull one out. In the
nightcap, UCLA takes on Colorado. UCLA QB Josh Rosen is out for the season, and
the Bruins have struggled offensively without him. Colorado is looking to extend its lead in the PAC 12 South,
and to keep its Rose Bowl chances alive.
Friday Night
San Jose State @ #22 Boise State- 10:15 ESPN2
Boise State looks to keep their slim New Year’s Bowl
hopes alive as it takes on San Jose State. Boise has been excellent in the first quarter this year,
rushing out to big leads. Boise
needs to win out and have Wyoming lose twice in order to have a chance
Saturday Day
Navy VS Notre Dame (Jacksonville)- 11:30 CBS
#8 Wisconsin @ Northwestern- 12:00 ABC
#7 Louisville @ Boston College- 12:00 ESPN2
Georgia Tech @ #22 North Carolina- 12:30 ACC Networks
Navy heads down to Jacksonville to take on Notre Dame in
a neutral site matchup. Navy still
controls its own destiny in the AAC even after last week’s loss to USF. Notre Dame needs a win in order to
still have a chance at bowl eligibility.
In the Big 10, Wisconsin takes on Northwestern. Wisconsin has played 4 straight teams
ranked in the top 10 and this may be a letdown matchup for them. Northwestern only lost by 4 at Ohio
State last weekend, and won’t be playing scared in Madison. On ESPN2, Louisville heads to Boston to
take on BC. Lamar Jackson is the
Heisman favorite this season, and has been putting up video game like
numbers. BC picked up their first
ACC win last week against NC State, but may be over their head against
Louisville. Elsewhere in the ACC,
Georgia Tech takes their option attack to Chapel Hill. UNC is still in the hunt in the ACC
Coastal, and needs to win out to have a chance. Look for Mitch Trubisky to
light up the Tech secondary.
Saturday Afternoon
TCU @ #17 Baylor- 3:30 Fox
#11 Florida @ Arkansas- 3:30 CBS
Oklahoma State @ Kansas State- 3:30 ABC
TCU and Baylor meet for the 112th time in
their rivalry matchup. Baylor lost
their first game of the season to Texas last Saturday but still controls its
own destiney. TCU has not lived up to their expectations so far this season,
but has a very potent offense.
Look for a lot of points to be scored in this one. In the SEC, Florida heads to Arkansas
for the first time since 2008.
Florida’s defense dominated Georgia’s rushing attack last weekend, and
should do the same on Saturday.
The key will be if Brandon Allen is able to throw on the Gators. If he
can’t this one could get ugly. On
ABC, Oklahoma State takes on Kansas State. If Oklahoma State wins out, they should win the Big
12. Kansas State has struggled to
score in their 3 losses this season, but should be able to move the ball
against the Cowboys. Look for this
one to be close.
Saturday Night
Iowa @ #12 Penn State- 7:30 Big 10 Network
#1 Alabama @ #13 LSU- 8:00 CBS
#10 Nebraska @ #6 Ohio State- 8:00 ABC
Iowa heads to Happy Valley for a night game against Penn
State. Penn State is still riding
high off of its upset over Ohio State two weeks ago, and is ripe for an
upset. Iowa has had a
disappointing season so far, but can turn things around with a win on
Saturday. In the game of the day,
Alabama takes on LSU. The Crimson
Tide has destroyed everything in its path so far this season, with only 1 game
being within 19 points. The Tide
have done an excellent job of creating big plays, and have scored 11 touchdowns
on defense and special teams. LSU
needs to avoid coastly mistakes if it has a chance. The Tigers season has turned around since Les Miles was
fired after LSU started 2-2. Their
offense has been excellent, and they have been able to run the ball on
anyone. So far this season, no one
has been able to get any sort of ground game going against Alabama, but if
someone can, it will be Leonard Fournette and LSU. Elsewhere, Nebraska tries to bounce back against Ohio State
after suffering their first loss of the season last week. This is a huge game for both teams as
Ohio State tries to keep their playoff hopes alive, while Nebraska tries to
stay in the lead of the Big 10 West.
JT Barrett has not played his best so far this season, but this could be
his breakout game.
Saturday Late Night
Utah State @ Wyoming- 10:15 ESPN2
#5 Washington @ California- 10:30 ESPN
Utah State takes on Wyoming in a Mountain West matchup on
ESPN2. Wyoming is in the drivers seat
in the Mountain division. If
Wyoming continues to win, it has a shot at a New Year’s Day bowl. Coach Craig Bohl will be a hot
commodity this offseason. In the
Pac 12, Washington heads to Cal.
Washington picked up a huge win over Utah last Saturday, and looks to
stay undefeated. Cal can score
against anyone, and plays much better defense at home. If Washington isn’t ready to play, Cal
could put them in a pick whole early.
